Ongoing conversion of analog resources to digital format

I have been working on putting all the sundry sketches, drawings, and ideas into digital format. Not such an easy task. I have been setting this up and not using the resources I have at hand for some time. I have lots of computer resources for doing analog to digital transfers. Most of it is pointed at audio transfers but it seems I am more interested in making and setting these electronics up than I am working with them... I am working at changing this trend of setting up and not using my resources right now.

Some time ago I bought a Genius MousePen 8x6. This is a rather nice, and fairly cheap, pen tablet for drawing and manipulating on screen objects using a pen. It has a pressure sensitive tip so it can be used for shading and a variety of on screen uses.

I have also acquired a copy of GIMP 2 which is a GNU image manipulation program. This is a nice freeware drawing program that does layers and all sorts of "paint" like manipulation programs. The GIMP works on windows 7 which is my current operating system... I am using the win7 version in other words. This seems much easier to manipulate than some of the CAD programs I have tried.

I am using the pad in GIMP to touch up my sketches and drawings so they are presentable to be posted here. Although I have not been posting a lot I am working steadily in the background... well after a week of vacation ending today... I was out of town and away from any online computing resources. So now back and refreshed I go back to work tomorrow and continue to work on my here as I take breaks from the garage shop and doing all those normal chores we all do at home... laundry, cooking, cleaning... Et cetera ad nauseam.

It would appear that I will be making, in addition to a router table and a box joint jig, a more versatile drill press table to enable the box joint jig... so to summarize.

I am making a router table, a drill press table, and a box joint jig (in that order) to enable the construction of a set of tool boxes that we desperately need to keep our sanity with the number of tools that are floating about.

During that construction project I will be working on this blog as well as working for a living... sigh.

I gave up TV awhile ago so this is not so undoable as it might sound but I do have to take breaks. Hang in there this stuff is coming along and I will keep this as up to date as I can.

Update:
I dislike drawing on GIMP. It is very slow! I think I might try doing a cleaner copy of drawings and see if I can get them to scan better. I am thinking of a transfer using a tracing light box and making a pen and ink version of my drawing and then scanning. I can then use GIMP for touch ups and transfer of format. 09-25-2017

I have found the pen and ink transfer by tracing is the clearest option. Will be ordering a dedicated light pad for this. It beats the old overhead projector I am using... kind of bulky that. 10-16-2017

Recumbent tadpole trike: Posts on Velomobilforum p.8

Hello Hein, Titan Wolf, trike like (Martin?) and Stephan (shs2_de) It has been a couple of weeks since I was able to remark on what I have been doing with the idea of a tilting space frame trike and I have some things to share. I have built another new prototype of a tilting mechanism and have already come up with a new version. Interestingly enough my newest designs bears a great resemblance to what Stephan (shs2_de) worked on with his suspension system at the beginning of this forum file. It may be interesting to Stephan and others to see a modification of that suspension system. I have also spent a considerable time with my husband and a friend remodeling our 2 bathrooms as well as working overtime… Sigh real life… enough said on that subject. Before I much go on I want to address a couple of comments from Wolf. I read your comment on obstacles in the road and thought about that in terms of tilting and locking the tilt mechanism. First I think that a tilting trike (1 st te

Recumbent tadpole trike: Posts on Velomobilforum p.6 Hello sheng-fui, I understand about translations since I must use one for German! I think I would miss so much without the translation as I found out the first time I looked at the forum with the machine translation. So German on Velomobilforum and American on my blog… Perhaps I will get it right the first time! ;D So on to leaning trikes. I think I came up with a better geometry for the XYZ Leaning trike than what I presented but I am having real difficulty putting it into 2 dimensions. To solve that I am making a prototype in plywood. It will hopefully help me visualize. Maybe my prototype will let me take pictures that make sense instead of sketches and text descriptions. I believe what I have in mind is a bit like the Chike trike without suspension. I think the Chike trikes are awesome! I think these trikes use a fairly common geometry. The nose rotates and with a modified wishbone they are supporting balance wi

Recumbent tadpole trike: Posts on velomobilforum p.7 Hello! I have been doing some fast prototyping in plywood. I glued up a strip of 3/4" plywood and  1/4" plywood (they are actually metric ply close to those measurements) to get a small sheet of 1" thick plywood. So I then cut this to made some 1" square plywood dowels about 8 foot long.  From these dowels , some wood screws, and a couple of bolts I put together a proof of concept tilting trike frame. I want to play with it a bit and will buy more hardware to hopefully put on some wheels.  Nothing I built is usable for riding. This is literally just a full scale model and a poor one at that. Mostly I want to see the full size geometry and how the machine functions. So here are my pictures from shortly after the sun was up so forgive the shadows. Now tilting Right Now Tilting  Left Now a couple of close ups of the middle. I will post more as I bui
